Preparation | Prerequisites: knowledge of basic human computer interface (Windows XP – Windows 8; Linux or other operating system); personal computer basic knowledge; office automation basic skills. The course will be held at “Sapienza” University – Rome – Italy | |
Objectives | The course is organized in two modules, plus an on line verification and assistance during a period of six months post course. The 2 modules will be taught during the same days, one following the other. Usually is better to start with a theory session, opening the practice session in the second part of the day. 1° Module: History and evolution of the web applications. Objective: Learn how to select the right technology for you: old and new methods, old and new languages in the Web information and knowledge sharing. Objective: Learn how to organize the server infrastructure; selection and utilization of hardware and software instruments suitable for the publishing, selection of hardware and software for a Workstation to produce web pages, Objective: hypermedia and hypertestual communication elements; the multimedia project. Internet and WorldWideWeb server sites and portals. Creation of a document with html, files and títles: “Eurodidaweb / Europaclub” of texts and of paragraphs, colours and back grounds and link production. 2° Module: Applying all that competence. The project and realization of a WEB site: historical, artistic, and archaeological patrimony of the participants’ regions. Assessment of the knowledge reached by participants. Objective: Learn how to use methods, languages and tools to effectively produce a web portal. Objective: Learn how manage information, documents, lay-out styles ; Learn how to organize anda manage user profiles, user rights, and authentication Objective: Learn how to provide feedback and training to your users/pupils |

FIRST DAY:Some historic perspective,the Web trough the end of 2th. millennium. A whole new media,invented in 5 years. The years of the Web of Science.The Years of the Mass Web. Where we are going from here?Illusions and poverty of the WorldWideWeb.Laboratory:learning and teaching HTML trough the Web:simulation environment;on-line courses free and brilliant.What does it means today Web publishing.The Content Management System evolution.A specific stack of software to manage Web Pages,Links,News,Events Documents, Informations and Knowledge.SECOND DAY:
The semantic and multimedia Web:a tool to share knowledge,a tool of cohesion: a powerful integration instruments for the European union and its peoples.A sight to the future:exchanging knowledge among the European cultures.A first individual approach to the technological tools that will be used during the course:The Zope/Plone stack,Moodle etc,an Open Source powerful yet easy Content management platform.Hypermedia and hypertextual communication elements;planning the multimedia project:our first web page with Plone:coping with HTML.Using the Wysywyg Editor.Importing Documents from other programs. THIRD DAY: The concept of workflow:members,roles and rights tables and workflow;local rights and global rights;document workflows;creation, reviewing and publishing a resource.How to manage a group of publishers,reviewers and members.Using multimedia source:samples of Plone sites with multimedia contents.Heading forward Knowledge management:archetypes functions;vocabulary management;use of schedules form,construction download insertion,pictures and sound insertion, pitcures touching up. FOURTH DAY: Team work site construction:“Europaclub/Eurodidaweb site”–; making a template for Plone or other;modifying the Style Classes (CSS) to produce a personal layout. A functional comparison will be presented between Moodle style and EduCommons style of structuring learning content. Mashing educational contents: Images in a Plone site or other with the internal upload facility; importing Slides from third party servers; mashing video from third party servers (YouTube, Vimeo) ; mashing SCORM material; FIFTH DAY: use of some simple procedures written in a Plone site or other with the internal upload facility. During the conclusive work participants will deal with practical example, extracted from real world experiences, of usage of web platform in learning / teaching in different “learning styles”: 1) constructionist 2) blended 3) self-paced “mentored” online learning 4) distance learning. Further analysis activities will guide each participant to develop awareness on the different styles of web-based learning / teaching tools. |
